Meet the Staff

Dave Smith
Dave started the business in partnership with his father Maurice shortly after the Great Storm of 1987. It all started with the demolition of the old farm buildings that stood on our current yard and with hand-made roof tiles and fittings in great demand, it was an ideal time to start a new reclaimed building materials business and MK & DK Smith reclaimed building materials was established.
Steve Bateman
As the business grew more manpower was needed. Steve had worked for a London jeweller and following a spell working abroad, he managed a Coral betting shop. In 1997 he joined MK & DK smith and has been a valuable member of staff until becoming a full partner in our new partnership, Authentic Reclamation in May 2008.
Mark Hassall
Having worked in the finance industry for 14 years Mark set up his own reclamation business on the first day of the new millennium. Running alongside MK & DK reclaimed building materials, Antique & Contemporary Stone focused mainly on reclaimed stone products and the two businesses complimented each other while running from the same yard in Stonegate, East Sussex. In May 2008 the two businesses merge and became Authentic Reclamation.
Gooner
Long established tea boy and kitchen cleaner, Gooner joined MK & DK Smith in the early nineties and plans to graduate from the YTS scheme very shortly. A valued member of staff.
