Reclaimed Walling Stone in Sussex and Kent

Reclaimed Walling Stone

Dressed Sussex Sandstone

If you are extending an original Sussex Sandstone property, this is an ideal walling stone. It not only offers a weathered look to match an existing building, but is also much less expensive than new dressed stone. Our dressed sandstone blocks are typically random in size, but can be sorted to form courses and is typically used for the base of converted Sussex barns.

Our next grade of dressed Sussex sandstone is more variable in shape and is often used for retaining garden walls and non-structural work.

Dressed SandStone

Random Sussex Sandstone

Random in size and shape (not dressed) as opposed to blocks, this stone is still used for walling and is usually utilised in garden walls. Ideal for buildings where random sized stone was originally used, the Sussex sandstone usually has one flat face suitable for walling.

Kent Rag Stone

A local grey stone, also known as Kent Rag Stone, is similar to limestone. This stone is usually randomly shaped, but occasionally comes in dressed blocks.

Northern Sandstone

This stone comes in random shapes or in dressed blocks and offers an inexpensive alternative to Dressed Sussex Sandstone. Being a sandstone, it is similar in colour to Sussex Sandstone and will blend well with an existing Sussex Sandstone wall.
