Our hand-made Sussex & Kent peg tiles are up to 200 years old. Colours vary from dark brown to orange to match an existing tile. A Kent Peg Tile is typically smaller than a Sussex Peg Tile. We also have ridge, bonnet (sometimes known as hip) and valley tiles to match. We also stock peg tiles suitable for tile hanging, not surprisingly, known as hanging tiles.
A French single nib tile is an affordable alternative to a Kent or Sussex peg tile. You can see from the picture in the gallery below that it is difficult to tell the difference.
An English alternative to a peg tile is a 10 and a ½ inch by 6 and a ½ inch hand-made nib tile. Again, colours vary to match an existing tile and again, we have ridge, bonnet and valley tiles to match.
Hand-made nib tiles are also available in an 11 inch by 7 inch size. Normally sourced from the north of England, these tiles are more plentiful and offer an inexpensive alternative to a hand-made 10 and a ½ by 6 and a ½ inch nib tile.
A more affordable alternative to a hand-made tile is a machine made tile. A more pleasing look can be achieved by mixing different coloured tiles from different sources as in the picture shown in the gallery below.
